Description
We are transforming housing in Bristol, delivering change at pace across one of the UK’s largest council owned housing portfolios, investing in our existing stock, meeting our compliance and safety obligations, building new homes and creating neighbourhoods that our residents can be proud of. We are championing the voice of residents to tackle inequality, drive innovation and implement a clear strategy that addresses the housing pressures in our city, delivering safe, warm and secure homes for everyone. Housing is a key political and corporate priority and this is an exciting time to join us, leading and shaping a critical division within our housing directorate.
Reporting to our recently appointed Executive Director of Housing, you will be a key member of our newly formed directorate leadership team, providing strategic and operational leadership across housing property services including repairs and maintenance, mechanical and electrical, compliance and building safety, planned investment and new build delivery. We are one of the largest council landlords in the country with over 27,000 homes, with a large in-house delivery team of around 1,000 colleagues working alongside externally contracted partners. You will lead the delivery of significant capital investment programmes and the revenue repairs budget, applying excellent governance frameworks to ensure regulatory compliance, achieving value for money and strong performance. We are committed to driving service improvement at pace, strengthening performance management, and embedding a resident-focused culture that builds trust through delivery.
We are looking for an ambitious and credible leader with an operational understanding of repairs and capital delivery in social housing, a strong grasp of building safety and compliance, and a track record of leading transformation through mixed delivery models. Our values promote a collaborative and inclusive approach to leadership, empowering teams to make decisions and deliver services that make a difference, promoting innovation and where equity and equality are the founding principles of what drives us.
